I'm interested in recommendations for well-written stories that actually include a decent plot and character development, and that focus on the relationship, the seduction, and/or the build up of sexual tension than in just writing a steamy sex scene. No "Two strangers met in a bar, and then he randomly whipped his cock out, and she had to have him right there and then" or "I was secretly hot for my teacher so I flashed him my tits out of the blue one day, and then we fucked like porn stars." Let me know what your favourites are.

Read the Kristina series by oceanrunner. I'm in agreement with verbal about Hannah's work, pick any and get lost in it. ? Have a read of chesh78 too while you're there. He can write!

I think my stories may be what you are looking for. My stories are based on real events that actually happened in my life. I have Parts 1 and 2 posted titled, "My First Gang Bang and Golden Shower." I write them as I remember them happening, as this even happened almost 42 years ago, a few months after my 17th birthday.
I try to write them so the reader can picture what is happening. I begin the year before we started dating. He would not date me until I turned 17 and was legal. I started dating the man that became my first Dom / Master on my 17th birthday. Oddly enough, as one of your examples mentions, he was my math and science teacher in high school.
The end of part two is still on the first day of a 3 day party that quickly, for me at least, became a 3 day gang bang. I was the only one that attended the party that did not know it would be a gang bang. When I left for the party I knew I would be having sex with Teach, but had no idea it would be in front of everyone at the party. Or that he would offer me to others, both men and women.
A bigger surprise to me would be that I loved ever minute of it, and I was not forced into doing anything I was not comfortable with. That weekend I had a lot of first in my sexual education. On the day before if someone would have ask me, "Would you like to be shared with other men in front of my boyfriend?" I would have told them, "There is no way I would consider doing anything like that!"
The reality was, that the next day, the extremely erotic excitement, turn ons, and sensations created when my seduction into several new parts of what is know as the lifestyle, became instantly addictive. The orgasmic bliss I experenced was nothing like any I had ever experienced before. Those excitements, turn ons, and sensations still occurs on a daily bases today.
I hope to post other parts to the story as soon as time allows and I can get the LS rules figured out. Part 3 is written, but not up to LS standards which change from one mod to the next.

I try to make an intricate plot and develop character in all my stories, no matter how short, but maybe not to your satisfaction. However, I don't want to go on for so long that the reader gets antsy for some action. I mean, I assume that's why they're reading here. I think A Square Peg has a thought out plot. I think An Aegean Vacation tells a story. And I could go on, BUT, all of my stories are gay, and that might not be what you're looking for. If not, too bad.
You are invited to try my Devil's Harem series. Also my story, Batgirl, which came in second place in the Sporty Sex Story competition. It's a baseball setting.
I think you have enough material for an extended reading period. I don't advertise at all but, I do have a few stories that you might consider for your list.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. Lots to read. I'm a fan of many of the authors listed here. My personal tastes are fairly vanilla, so I don't usually go for a lot of the darker or kinkier stuff, but I do admire the talent in writing a well crafted plot and characters.

This is generally what I shoot for. There's a couple in my oeuvre that could be considered "Stroke stories" but generally I try to set some kind of plot and character context for things. IOW, feel free to read my stuff. It pretty much all fits what you're after, I think.
