Mark Wahlberg Has Expressed Interest In Taking Over Thee Role. Mark Wahlberg Has Said That He Would Hypothetically Like To Take Over The Role Of Iron Man When Robert Downey Jr. Steps Down. Robert Downey Jr. JUST RECENTLY Renewed His Iron Man Contract Though!
Was this a joke thread?

Because.

Fuck no.

Ha. Nah, It's Not A Joke Man. I Thought It Was A Joke Too! Thankfully Robert Renewed His Contract.
I can't take him as a serious actor. It's just not possible. Not since The Funky Bunch.

I laugh every time he's on the screen. Say hi to your mother for me.
Uhm. No. Robert Downey Jr. will always be the only Iron Man to me. Besides, even though I admire Mark Wahlberg, he's just not near as funny as RDJ...
Anyone can play Iron Man as some guy in a suit. It's the character of Tony Stark that's going to be hard to replace. Downey Jr. has just nailed that character and made it his own.
I think they both are great actors.Robert Downey Jr. is on my celebrity to-do list. But Mark is not bad either. If and only if Robert steps down I would be fine with Mark taking over.
His greatest role ever was in The Departed. Outside of that, I can't watch a movie of his. Always a trainwreck.
Wahlberg was decent in Boogie Nights (since his character was intended to be a train wreck), and not too bad in The Other Guys (when teamed with Will Ferrell); other than those two and The Departed, he's pretty much stunk up everything else IMO.
He was great in Boogie Nights and the Departed...everything else? That would be a No.

Mark Whalberg as Tony Stark? nah, not seeing it. Im not sure who could replace Robert Downey Jr. He has renewed his contract, but even he has gotten to comfortable in the role. i.e Iron Man 3. He's starting to play the character for laughs, quick with a joke, too many quips..etc etc.

Tony Stark is not a humorous character, or shouldnt be anyway.
Wahlberg as Tony Stark no as a Bond girl maybe lol
He definitely wouldn't be the worst choice, but I'd still really like to see Robert play the superhero.
Thats very funny.....only thing they have in common besides being actors is their height......Downey will always be Iron Man....wink

My reaction exactly
At this point, the whole discussion of recasting Tony seems moot. Downey Jr. is definitely in the suit for Captain America : Civil War which makes it ever likelier he will also come back for Avengers : Infinity War 1 & 2 assuming Tony is still an Avenger at that point (there has been rumour about rejigging the team at some point, possibly as early as the end of Age of Ultron). There are no further solo Iron Man movies planned at this point, so Downey Jr. would probably have a couple years off to work on non-Marvel projects after he finishes shooting Civil War, which might also help keep him in the fold if they do want him in Infinity War.
this thread is two years old.
I can't imagine Mark Walhberg in much of anything. He's just not a good actor. He's gotten better over the years, but the only thing that kept the rather lame Iron Man franchise going was Robert D. Jr.'s frenetic personality. Both the character and the actor blossomed nicely in the first Avenger movie, but only because Joss Whedon was at the helm as both writer and director. So I'm sorry if you like him, but Marky Mark as Iron Man? No, not ever.
Mark is best-looking for superhero role on "Invincible"... He needs no iron, & Iron Man needs 0 more films.
