I think the scene where Darryl has to stab Merle is one of the best. Merle finally does something decent & gets killed for it then Darryl has to finish the job because the Gov. intentionally left him as a zombie. That was intense.

I agree. He's getting more and more sketchy as the series continues. I hope they don't end up leading him down the path of becoming like a ruthless little junior governor type and totally abandoning his humanity. I haven't really 'trusted' his character since before he got shot and ended up on the farm.

Funny about Darryl - he's got quite the fanclub. I read that when Andrea accidentally shot him (grazing his ear) back in Season Two, the actress who played her started getting tons of 'death threats' from lunatic fans that obviously can't separate reality from fiction.

To your last post about the governor, from what I've rea about the book it ends a bit different but I don't think he'll be back. I assume he left dodge, he's not that stupid to go after a more skilled group with two men. I thought something else was gonna happen in the last episode but I was wrong.

As for Carl, Hershel said drop your gun, I'd listen to the old guy and drop it. instead he leaned out handing it. It looked like he was trying to get closer, I dont like it but Carl didn't do anything wrong, just playing it really safe. If you said drop the gun to the governor and he put it out in his hand and said take it with that look and smile of his; would you? No, I'd put him down. Carls losing the idea theres good in people. He dropped ricks badge at the end because he doesn't believe in giving everyone a fair chance. He's going down the do what you gotta do road, whether it's right or wrong. He was just looking out for the group in the way he thought was right, it doesn't make it right but it doesn't make him evil. There's not much room for interpretation in "drop you gun". I'd do the same thing as Carl, but I would have given that kid another warning though. I didn't notice him getting cynical until they found carols daughter in the barn.
If Carl goes down the only thing standing between Judith and a shotgun is the crippled old guy. I don't like those odds lol.

I do think they left it purposely ambiguous with the young boy sort of trying to hand over the gun rather than just dropping it. Killing the boy wasn't that big a deal, considering he would have been gunned down by the governor anyway. And really - it's not that different than the scene where Rick left that poor backpacker begging for help on the side of the road who ended up becoming zombie road-kill a few hours later. I thought that was pretty cold too, on a similar level. But based on Carl's age and everything he's gone through, they need to keep an eye on him. I mean he's arguably suffered way more calamities than Rick based on having to put down both his mom and shane. Carl always seems to get lost in the shuffle somehow because he's trying to be all stoic about his emotions and losses.

I just feel like he acts a bit reckless sometimes (although this likely is also attributed to him being a kid in a hyper-grown-up environment). He was always disappearing at the farm (Lori always seemed to lose track of him). He played around with that prisoner teenager tied up in the barn, he took a gun and went off in the woods and taunted the walker that later broke out of the mud and killed Dale (he should have told someone about that) and that latest bit where he rushed off from Michonne to retrieve that photo from the tavern. Luckily she caught up to him and decided to help him out on what would have ended in disaster for him otherwise. He's a complicated kid and I can understand why, but I think he needs more guidance and attention because he could easily become more like Shane or the Governor in outlook.

Having said that - the Governor is a great 'evil character' so I can't see them abandoning him. He adds a certain enjoyable tension to the show. I haven't read the comics so I don't know his ultimate fate as a character, but I don't think they're following the blueprint with it that much anyway.

I'm still sad they killed off Andrea. She was such an interesting character. I don't know if they plan to develop Carol's character more next season, but she's always felt like dead weight to me. I would have much rather seen that character go than Andrea's.

I might have let my expectations run away with me a bit.

I had the feeling that bat shit crazy Irish bird was up to something, but to be honest, I wasn't expecting a walker in a sack. I would have liked to have seen that go a different way. What does everyone else think?

And how much of a muck do you think that kid who dropped in the shower is going to cause?

That was definitely The Walking Dead I've come to love. I was beside myself when they ploughed into that massive herd of walkers. That was real edge of the seat stuff there. I'm not holding out much hope for that big guy, but I really want him to miraculously get through it. He's charged up my favourites list so quickly, he better bloody stay there.

And how about Carol? I knew she'd snapped her biscuit. I can't wait to find out how much of a liability she's going to become before they do something about her.

On a bit of a tangent, I just found out today that the actor playing Rick is really British. He was the guy obsessed with Keira Nightley in Love Actually. I know it's stupid, but I have a lot more respect for his character now. It was certainly good to see him strap on a pair and lay into the big guy. I felt it was more of agenuine response than all the whining he's been doing lately.
