I think one of the main problems with this is the fact that people keep procreating. Seriously. Like I cannot imagine how anyone would want to get pregnant and have a baby during a zombie apocalypse when you need to be mobile and adaptable but Judith forced them to hole up at the prison and fight for it. And now Maggie's pregnancy seems to be solidifying things. Watching them 'on the road' didn't seem like a fun experience considering food is legit scarce now if you're just scavenging. A secure space with walls and sustainable resources and safety is now a 'need' rather than a 'want'. This seems to be the motivating factor in fighting for what they have in Alexandria and not running.

While I agree, some previous storylines have felt redundant at times, and at other times kind of sloppy, this is ultimately a survivalist show - there's nothing to evolve to from here and there's only so many fresh ways to kill a zombie/herd. I think there is interesting potential for the first time as we come across other sustainable communities and the show looks at the idea of trade/barter and probably how to work together against a common evil. While I haven't read the comics, I imagine their only hope going forward to defeat Negan will be working with the other communities he's enslaved. They certainly don't have the manpower on their own. A lot of characters will evolve because of the recent deaths as well, which I think could be pretty compelling.

not sure who this Negan guy is, but if they really want him taken out, they should hire me.

You can’t truly call yourself peaceful unless you are capable of violence. If you’re not capable of violence, you’re not peaceful. You’re harmless.

You'd be the only surviving blonde. I had no idea of the bias against the fair-haired on WD until I read this thread. There should be at least one internet petition about it.

I really just watch this show for the zombies. They're still the best ones I've ever seen.

I would like to see the zombies mutate and evolve. It would be great if they start developing stronger cognitive abilities, more strength and mobility.

How about some smart zombies that can run, fight, and use weapons? There could just be one or two at first and they lead and organize the zombies. Then more and more begin mutating.

If you can deal with camp, you should try Z Nation.

Seriously... most brutal episode ever. Like I had seen the spoilers so I was pretty sure I knew what was coming and I was still completely traumatized. That was one of those episodes you watch once and never again. It was way worse than I was expecting. There wasn't a moment to breathe from beginning to end. I just can't even handle it yet. So fucking awful.

I thought it was an incredibly well written episode overall and I understand why they had to go this way. It really does 'reset' the show. There have been so many villains but nothing has ever broken the fight and resolve of Rick's gang like this. You kind of think after this many seasons, everything has already been done, but this is genuinely new territory.

I still kind of wish my eyes could 'un-see' some of the images in this episode. These characters will really be missed. It's kind of the end of an era.

Every word of this is how I feel and felt. I sat in shock, but truthfully I knew it was coming. I know others don't want to watch anymore, but to keep it fresh they needed to do something like this. Kirkman wrote it this way in the graphic novels, so for credibility if nothing else, it had to happen. Heartbreaking.

As usual, I still can't wait for next week.

No, I disagree. They are perfect the was they are, I never thought zombies should be able to run, or think. They're dead tissue....anyway, it's the humans they have to fear, not the walkers. You'd love the Mark Tufo books, The Zombie Fallout series. They are exactly like what you've described.

I have three famous stories, 2 recommended reads and have come in the top ten in two competitions~ Come in and make yourself at home.

I'd love to see Andrea and Beth come back...but they'd be walkers. Damn.

Anyone~ if you could have one character come back alive and well, who would it be and why?

I'd choose Andrea. She was a tough blond chick with leadership qualities. Loved her. Oddly enough, I also thought Milton would have been a great addition to the group.

I've had several friends play zombies on different episodes of The Walking Dead. It's filmed outside Atlanta. They spend a lot of time getting that zombie make-up applied. And you have to be able to walk like a zombie. They coach them.

In season one, in Atlanta, where they're trapped in that store and also when Rick and Glenn wear the meat-ponchos to walk the streets and then make a run for it over the fence - the zombies seem different to me. One zombie is using a rock to try to smash the glass window of the store where Rick and Andrea are trapped, and later, a couple of zombies run after Rick and Glenn and are seen climbing the fence after them. And remember the little girl zombie in the opening scene that stops to pick up her teddybear?

This was strange and out of synch with the way the zombies have been from those first few episodes onward, where they just slowly stagger after people without any hint of intelligent thinking.

i always wondered if this was a storywriting/show blip where they were still ironing out their 'Zombie Rules' or if there was some other explanation for the behaviour.

Andrea, for sure. I was so pissed that they killed her off. She was my favourite. I know a lot of people hated her for some of her decisions, but I related to her the most out of all the characters that have come and gone on the show.

Then a while back, I read this. It seems like Laurie Holden got screwed over.

Andrea is my pick, too. I wasn't always in love with how they wrote her but I get what they were going for. I also liked Denise. I was sad they took her out so quickly.

I met one of the WD Zombies at a horror convention. His name was Jeremy Ambler and he was the skinniest man I've ever seen. He also was a cannibal victim in the movie The Road.

I get dressed up and do a zombie walk most years with my wife. People undervalue the effect of a good zombie shuffle.

I would've loved for them to keep those attributes to the zombies, just a tiny fragment of their old selves. It would've even added more depth to the plotting. But the series is pretty awesome anyhow.

YES, on Denise! I was so frustrated they killed her off. Great actress, cool character with tons of potential, her story arc was far from feeling complete or satisfying.

Not to mention that had she lived, they wouldn't have had to rush Maggie to the Hilltop doctor in the middle of the night, despite knowing that Negan's group was potentially getting ready to ambush them.

Maybe they did it to fulfill that plot point, but I agree it was a missed opportunity to develop a really interesting supporting character.

Oh, I totally agree. I mean, condoms are still a thing, so use them. I know they won't be easy to find or find new ways of not getting pregnant. I get that people are still going to want to have sex and that is natural and will forever be a thing. But to have children is just beyond silly, so unsafe. Maggie and Glenn knew how hard it was for Lori and they still manged to get knocked up. To be honest, I'm surprised more people aren't pregnant.

I agree, there is only so many ways to kill zombies/herds, but that can be said about humans as well.

I was in tears... literally. Chuck kept reminding it was just a show. Noooo it is more. I just loved Glenn. If I saw that bastard actor on the street, I'd scratch his eyes out, worse than the way he knocked out Glenn's.

I know I know. It's only a story... sad

Right on, Buz... Flying zombies that can shoot laser beams from their eyes. They've got sonic hearing capabilities and can see thermally. Maybe flick their tongues and taste blood in the air!

On another note -

The same GQP demanding we move on from January 6th, 2021 is still doing audits of the November 3rd, 2020 election.

I'm totally feeling this potential hookup. To me, this makes so much more sense than the people who wanted the Daryl/Carol thing to happen. Pussycat, pomegranate and tempting biblical apples. Chemistry.

I am loving Ezekial's character. How can you not love a dude with dreads and a TIGER!! A freaking tiger!

I truly needed this change of pace to heal my broken heart from Glen. Need to hit the gym hard as I stressed ate a bot too much from the anxiety.

Despite a naked Daryl, they managed to make that scene as unsexy as humanly possible.

Negan just continues to be the most bad-ass, truly hate-able character EVER! But I can't take my eyes off him when Jeffery Dean Morgan is onscreen. He is such a awesum actor! And since Daryl and Rick have become sort of non-characters, he is def'ly the ONE TO WATCH, these days. Hate him, but love him!
