I haven't read much of his work, but the movie version of The Hunt for Red October remains one of my favorite naval action movies of all time.

The first one I read was Patriot Games in, perhaps, jr high??

Really enjoyed the Cardinal in the Kremlin, Without Remorse, and well, most of the Jack Ryan series.

He was a favorite, and The Hunt for Red October is possibly one of my favorite movies.

First I read was also Patriot Games. Great book and the movie was not bad either. Always enjoyed his books having grown up in the area here wrote about. Made it easy to picture the action taking place.

The first one I read was Executive Orders. I loved it, so I quickly read Sum Of All Fears (I know, a bit ass backwards) after, followed by the rest. Sad to hear that he has died.

FYI, I hear that there's one more novel in the pipe, due for publication in December, so we haven't heard the last from Tom Clancy yet. He was only 66 years old so definitely too soon. Between the novels, the movie adaptations of them, and the various videogame franchises he was involved with (e.g. Splinter Cell) Clancy really did have a big impact on the popular culture over the last three or so decades.

Currently reading Executive Decision, part of the Jack Ryan series. Have read at least a half dozen or more of his novels. Will miss his writings.

All were good. I've read most, listened to them all on CD. The first I read was Rainbow Six.

He made me feel like anything was possible. I've been bummed all day.

Actually, I don't have a favorite Tom Clancy book or movie.

But I would still like to send out my deepest sympathies to his entire family who-- I do believe-- will miss him very much.

Mr. Clancy will be so missed! He had so many great books and movies! I think my favorite are ~~~Patriot Games and Clear and Present Danger. Rest in Peace

As far as books and movies go it's a tie between Patriot games and Hunt for Red October, but I also enjoyed Cardinal of the Kremlin and Red Storm Rising. Probably would've enjoyed those movies

Im surprised to hear that. Most would say that the movie was such a departure from the novel, and not in a good way.

I do like the movie though...but The Hunt for Red October is still my favorite, and as good as Harrison Ford is as an actor...he was wrong for Jack Ryan. Alec Baldwin was the perfect Ryan. He wanted to do "A streetcar named Desire" and was too much of flake to continue the role.

Its a shame about Clancy...far too young.

So sad to read this news .... and far too young too!! He had another 6 stories to tell, I am sure!!

Favourite book - all of them! Each book I read (The Hunt for Red October and then devoured all the rest I found) was where I submerged myself in a written world of intrigue and suspense and ultimate chessmatches until I read his last word.

My favourite book of his is Clear and Present Danger. It's such a shame about the movie.

And my favourite movie was The Hunt for Red October. Alec Baldwin is the best Ryan, by far.

My thoughts and well wishes to his family and friends.
My latest story is a racy little piece about what happens when someone cute from work invites you over to watch Netflix and Chill.

Yeah, I read that too...someone on FB posted this obit from the Baltimore Sun...good article, I didn't know much about him...

Baltimore Sun - Tom Clancy

He was a rather wealthy and successful author...heck, if you can afford $350,000.00 per year in property taxes alone, you must be doing something right...reminds me, I really should get back to writing more...

Btw, don't recall reading any of his books...liked the "Hunt For Red October" movie though...

You know you want it, you know you need it bad...get it now on Amazon.com...

He's never been directly involved with any of the games that are branded with his name as far as I know. He had red storm which is a game dev but Ubisoft bought them years ago. They didnt call him up for questions or anything. Most of the franchises have been ruined anyway because they're Ubisoft games and Ubisoft is quickly becoming one of the bottom barrel devs with their asinine way of making games. the last two splinter cells were awful anyway and the next rainbow six isnt even being made. ghost recon is hit or miss.

"his" games aren't as good as his books.
