The most talented of the Python team. Go to You Tube and search for 'The North Minehead Bye-Election' (quirky English humour, I grant you) for one of the finest opening lines in TV comedy: "Sorry to keep you waiting, I was just putting some lard on the cat's boil!"
I actually remember that one, probably because of that line.
Jones was a brilliant man, funny as hell and a terrific director to boot. We have him to thank for directing most of their movies (Holy Grail, Life of Brian, and Meaning of Life). RIP.
I can recall watching MPFC on TV at 9am on BBC2 many years ago and then the subsequent films all of which had me in stitches. RIP.
I first watched Python on PBS when I was fairly young. It think it was on our local PBS station (I'm in Canada but grew up near enough to Buffalo that we could receive WNED). Also saw Holy Grail on TV in that era, probably on PBS as well though it might have been TVO (educational channel here in Ontario). I think The Meaning of Life came out when I was in high school but was rated R in Ontario so I didn't see it until it came out on video.
Sad to think such a talented eloquent man was lost to this horrible debilitating disease
