I found the theme aliens arriving to enlighten humanity as to the illusory nature of time a wonderful surprise. Such a change from the same old trope of invaders here to enslave us and strip-mine the Earth of its resources.

I agree... after it ended, I was like "what the fuck?" Maybe the studio was thinking "trilogy." Not everything has to be a franchise.... Why can't they just make a good film and leave it at that?

I just watched this. It got luke warm reviews but I thought it was quite good.

It also shows the ridiculous of the American "war on drugs." It's based on the true story of Rick Wershe, who worked as an FBI informant at age 14. He was arrested for drug possession and is still in prison after over 30 years. Not murder. Not . Drug possession. 30 years.
