The only three words that are going through my head are, 'the', 'fuck', and 'what'. Not necessarily in that order. I'm sorry, is his name an alias for, Robert Plant, Kerry King, Dave Mustaine, or maybe Corey Taylor? I don't think so, he's not a rock star, he's the opposite of a rock star. What the fuck, I mean really. What's next, is Dave Grohl gonna announce that he is biggest rapper on the planet? Or maybe Carol Alt will declare herself the ugliest model on the planet.

Kanye has a massive ego. We've seen that many times. IOW, yawn. No big deal. Tomorrow he'll find some other thing to rave about.
Quote by sprite Kayne is actually brilliant - sadly, he's also an egotistical douchebag and it's hard to get past that at times.
This! Lyrically, the dude is amazing. He hasn't put out a single album I don't like.
Unfortunately, he's a controversy junkie. And when you're as talented as he is, you don't have to be a controversy junkie. But he's hell bent on making himself as unlikeable as possible, so he pulls stunts like this. I think in his mind, he's that nerd that's been invited to the cool table, and is desperate to be the biggest dick possible in order to keep his place there.
But I digress, he knows he's not the biggest rock star on the planet. But it got us to talk about him, didn't it? He sure knows what he's doing in that aspect. He likes any attention, be it negative or positive.

He may not even be the biggest rock star in his own neighborhood...and maybe not the biggest celebrity in his own house...
Dude, don't you know that he's a GENIUS!?! Jk
All joking aside though, I really can't say I dislike him just because he's such a big goofball that it's funny.
People say and do things all the time to get attention, and there's an old adage about there being no such thing as bad publicity...and now here we are, talking about him in a forum thread, as are millions of others on the internet...so, he got exactly what he wanted...
Really? I think Mick, David, Freddie, Joe, Bono, Paul, Kurt, John, Eric, Johnny, would have something to say. So would my ladies Janis, Chrissy, Stevie, Suzie, Billie, Diana, Loretta, Dolly...
As far as I can tell, he's right- he is the biggest rock star.
Now, if we're going to say "well, literally speaking, he doesn't produce 'rock music', so he's not the biggest rock star", then I guess that's one way of looking at it. But a) the term 'rock star' generally means something broader than a specific music genre (Madonna is and was a massive rock star, even though she's never 'rocked'), and b) there's no disputing the fact that hip-hop has replaced 'rock music' in terms of popularity and cultural influence. Hip Hop, which makes up or directly influences most of the top 40 today, is what Rock used to be, and Kanye is it's biggest and arguably most talented personality.
If you took ten typical fans of pop music in 2013, I'm not sure two of them could pick Eric Clapton out of a lineup, and most wouldn't know who Freddie Mercury was.
