I finally got my brother hooked on GOT and he just watched the Red Wedding this morning.
His response was sending my a message saying "Filch just killed every fucking c**t, worst episode ever".
Laughed out loud for a good five minutes and then sent him links to watch Red Wedding reactions.
I can't wait for it to come back!

Oh my, he's still in his GOT diaper phase. He's just learning to stand but can't walk on his own yet.

Hopefully, he can catch up before the next season starts.

I got My Uncle Phil into it. He started season one Monday and finished season 6 last night lol He is totally hooked and the random messages he sent me were hilarious. Now he is going to have to suffer till June like the rest of us.

Hi Sinner
The Duchess of Tart

Please check out my new story, co-written with the amazing Wilful.

And my latest poem, The Temptation.

I enjoy the show, it is well written, and they have some good actors.
I don't watch GOT. I DID used to watch a terrible, campy, zombie Sci-Fi Original show called Z-nation (LOVE IT!). George RR Martin did a cameo, so for your viewing pleasure while you wait for June.....

3 more weeks until the season premiere.
I just got into it last year. had to binge watch all of it. Now I'm addicted to it.
I practically never ever watch TV series, but my girlfriend recently borrowed the first few seasons of this from one of her friends and has been rewatching it with me (on the basis that I enjoyed The Lord of the Rings and would therefore potentially enjoy this fantasy setting). I guess it's been our it's-raining-outside-and-we-might-as-well-cuddle-while-watching-this activity in the past few months.

We just finished Season 2 last week. My review: interesting characters/plotlines... but daaaamn does it take a whole fucking lot of time before any interesting events unfold (which is the main reason why I usually avoid these TV shows). I actually much preferred the first season, though I suspect that this is partly because I'm already growing a bit weary of it all. Yes, even with all those fabulous medieval titties. On a favorable note (and despite the massive eye-rolling reaction of my girlfriend), this series prompted me to download a hot porn-scene featuring Peta Jensen as the Queen of Dragons. I'm not sure how many more seasons I'll manage to watch, but I guess this TV show already had a few positive repercussions in my life, haha.

Seriously though, the bluish-guy featured in DamonX's post just appeared at the very end of Season 2. Will I really have to go through all of seasons 3-4-5-6 before finally witnessing whatever will happen with him?

Fuck.

yeah, this show is definitely one that takes commitment. I've seen every episode 3-6 times and I notice new things every time I watch. I watch pretty much everything and i can honestly say that GOT is the best tv show on right now, and quite possibly the best show in the history of TV.

I also think that if you haven't watched it by now you probably aren't going to enjoy it, because someone is obviously making you watch.

"You haven't seen game of Thrones? Bro, you have to watch!"

You can always just watch it for the violence and the tits, but if you really want to enjoy it, it does take commitment. It is however a show with a definitive beginning and end. So it wont just keep stringing you along forever like Walking Dead. There are 14 episodes left...

If you are worried about it not picking up, just watch a clip of "Battle of the Bastards." Probably the best battle sequence in any movie or TV show.

major spoilers though.

To be fair, that was me mocking my own usual disinterest in TV series a lot more than me criticizing that show, haha. I'm just terrible at keeping a high level of commitment toward those, plenty of my friends lent me box-sets of different TV series in the past (like Six Feet Under, or Heroes, or Breaking Bad), and I usually get bored after watching 3 episodes. The fact that I watched 2 full seasons of Game of Thrones is actually quite complimentary in my own case, that's pretty much a lifetime record for me.

And no worries, I'm really not watching it for the action sequences (or the titties); I recognized that this show is a lot more about intricate political intrigues after watching the first few episodes. I do enjoy most of it and how it's presented, it's simply that some plotlines literally take an eternity to evolve. The best example of this is Daenerys Targaryen and her whole 'desert journey'; I've been waiting for so long to see her kicking major ass while riding her dragons (preferably naked), but she has yet to interact with any of the other main characters after 2 complete seasons. As I expressed though, that's probably just me being used to watching movies and having everything wrapped up under 2 hours.

By the way, not having watched this series yet (or any other popular one) really doesn't have the same implication where I'm from (I live in Quebec). Over here the provincial government invests considerable funds to bolster our French culture and plenty of quality local TV series are continually being produced (like 19-2, or Unité 9, or Trauma, which all received substantial praise). Most people here know about these highly popular American series, but they're only a slight part of our cultural horizon and they're only being watched by a minority of us (I'd guess around 20-25%). Which frankly doesn't free me from any 'cultural guilt' because I never watch these French series either, haha.
Did anyone watch the season premiere?

16 million people did. Apparently it broke records at HBO.

What did you think? Too slow? Not enough action?

I thought it was perfect.

I'm just waiting for a spin off series featuring Sam emptying bedpans in the Citadel.

Did anyone notice that the knife in the book that Sam was looking at was actually the same knife that Littlefinger has?

Is it just me or is this season seeming very rushed. The first 6 seasons were so meticulous and methodical. This one seems like they are just trying to go through the paces just to get a a pay off.

Still the best show on TV, but I'm getting the feeling that they are trying to tie this up before the actors' contracts come up for renegotiation.
Yeah, it has come off a bit rushed. Still great, but I'm thinking they've got a lot to get in fast before there is a coalition of all the conniving groups to fight against The White Walkers.

Would love to see a little more realistic strategic maneuvering in the next battle scenes. I mean they are fun to watch and all but get tired of all the mindless screaming frontal assaults. I guess that's what you have to do to make a 10 minute battle. The sickle swords look cool too, but those were outdated before the Greek Hoplites, and Game of Thrones is set to look like late Middle Ages. Hmmm... a sickle sword would look scary coming at your throat, though.

I still love the show. I usually watch each episode twice.

Two things:

Why is it taking us so damn long to get to where we are going? My ass and feet are killing me.

And, why does Walter White and our gang share the same damn initials?

Just things one thinks about when on a seven year hike! FFS!
I think this season is a little rushed too. I understand they have to tie up alliances before Winter hits, but still....

At least the Loot Train battle frikkin rocked!

I also thought Peter Dinklage (Tyrion) was a lot more fun when he was a drunken whore-monger. So many juicy, funny scenes ("Where is the God of tits and wine?"). Now that he's respectable he just stands around and...gives advice. Waste of a fine actor.

They need to do a scene of Tyrion motorboating a truly enormous set of titties until he passes out.

Uh oh Buzz you just totally showed off your inner nerd. You totally just history fucked George RR Martin with your absolutely accurate statement that the khopesh sword....

...was prominent in ancient Egypt and probably not conducive to semi-nomadic steppe warfare.

Since I never expect to get laid ever again, in my next post I'll be touting the benefits of using a composite short bow over a Welsh longbow in long range military tactics.

Yes, the Egyptians and also the Hebrews and Philistines used the sickle sword. Supposedly the huge sword of Goliath was a sickle sword. I picture Andre the Giant swinging a sword. Poor guy. Uh... well... wrestling is great entertainment, right? The khopesh sword does look cool as hell, though. I want one for my wall.

Definitely, the short composite bow worked very well for the Mongols. It was very powerful and could do a nasty number on armor. And best of all, it could and was used from horseback. It really fucked up some Germanic knights. The Welsh bow had its use though. Used en masse reigning down on attacking armor, cavalry, or infantry, it was highly effective. But it was pretty stationary and those bowmen couldn't do jack shit if the enemy got right up on them. I'd also take the composite bow as a main weapon. I think there would be a wider range of strategies that would work using the composite.

I don't think I would've liked being forced to practice shooting that big fucking Welsh bow all the time instead of getting in my rounds of golf. Hmmm... imagine a golf cart, composite bow battle on a pristine golf course. Bring back Monty Python, they could pull that off.

Well back to Game of Thrones. Only 2 episodes left? I just don't see that. It seems like there should be about 7 or 8 scenes t least to build up to a great finish. Maybe they make it work anyhow. I always wanted Tyrion to end up as King of the Seven Kingdoms, maybe take the title Emporer. That's what I'd do. Fuck just being a King when the title Emporer could be used instead. Emporer Buz the Terrible!

The real William Wallace had a big sword. Supposedly 6' long as he was 6'6" at a time when the average dude was like 5'4". FUCK! And William Wallace wasn't some peasant making good as Mel Gibson destroyer of history made him out. William Wallace was a fucking highly trained knight from a family of knights. Shit, I'm, on a tangent. Too much bourbon.

Maybe. But the show gets more and more expensive each year. And now with the dragons in the mix, and the CGI is literally movie quality, it's probably harder to string things out. And the more detail and minutes you add to the battles, the higher that CGI cost will run you. Hopefully, before series end, we get a Helms Deep level battle with the Night King.

What else are we missing though besides a few more drawn out reunions? Bran practicing his powers I guess? The drama with Sansa/Arya seems really forced and I wish they'd move that along and put Littlefinger in the ground in order to give more minutes to others. The worst thing is the show plodding along towards its ending. That'd be awful.

I've heard rumblings of the last season be six, 2 hour "movies". Or at least, an hour and a half each.

I have a particular fetish for the warfare for the steppe nomads. I particularly enjoy the campaigns of Subodai (my pick for the best military leader in history.) One of my favorite military history books is the "Devil's Horsemen" by James Chambers.

It really shows how superior the mongols were compared to the European and Muslim warriors of the time. I collect medieval weaponry so when friend went to Mongolia to do a Masters Degree in International Health I asked her to bring me back a mongol composite short bow and dagger... (since I have a fetish for blades and bows. Most of the stuff I've got from Asia have been pretty dam gross in reality though... I wont even gent into the dagger I smuggled from Egypt because it has a monitor claw as a handle.

As for my choice for the game of thrones... Tyrion is my favorite....I just don't don't want him to lead. If you do one of those personality tests, you're find Tyion will be the one pulling the strings.

(T'shirts are available for 19.99 for limited time only. smile

I think that they may all break up and form some kind of configuration of allied states. I'm only on book one though so I'n not privy to the absent stories.

I know that they are running out of stories and this is already the most expensive show ever, I mean they can't even use the wolves because of the costs...the wolves should have been a bigger part of the show. Episode 6 with be the big battle north of the wall. Expect lots of deaths. I don't look at the predictions because those guys are just too fucking on. Episode 7 with the emotional climax with I'm guessing a few major characters dying.

My prediction is that Arya is going to sneak off and go to King's Landing to find Cercie. I think Season 7 will have lots flashbacks. I will be staying away from the internet because it seems to ruin it a bit for be, when they all accurately predict the episodes events.
I'm already getting Game of Thrones blue balls. They start shooting the next season in October.

In the meantime, check out this video. It actually gave me chills when I watched it.

it was made by AnneSoshi who has her own channel on youtube. She has a few similar videos using various songs/TV shows.

I would say "spoiler alert" but if you haven't watched by now you probably never will.
It's now football season and college bands are playing music from Game of Thrones when their team goes on defense. Finally, move over Star wars Empire music. Well, at least my alma mater doesn't play any of those but will play Bad Bad Leroy Brown.

I've checked out some of those spoiler 'prediction' sites but I will not post what I read.

I can't wait for next season. I hope they do get a budget increase because I'd love a long battle scene with a lot of tactics. And I would love to see more of those wolves.

What the fuck is there to watch on TV now? Well, football, of course. But I'd love to have a great series to watch until...
Burn them all....

I think everyone wants more of the wolves. It's funny that the wolves are actually more expensive than the dragons.

Ghost, for example is an "actor" wolf named Quigley from Calgary. Because of the permits involved in transporting animals overseas it was actually cheaper to fly the cast to Canada to film those scenes. It just becomes way too expensive to have the wolves. If you see the deleted scenes with the green screen wolf, then you can see how bad that can look.

The new season starts filming in October. I'm in no hurry to see the final season. I'll be happy to wait a bit and get the best possible outcome,
