What Do You Think About That? They Are Starting PRE-Production Early This Year.
He's a good character actor as long as those characters are crazy, but it's a weird choice. He doesn't have a lot of box office power.
Neither do films based on videogames. I am honestly smelling a major stinker here unless (a) they can get a writing and directing team who can essentially take the background of WoW and do something interesting in it AND (b) Activision doesn't stick its nose in to try to steer it into being a 2+ hour commercial for the game.
I don't know who Ben Foster is

That's the video game where you wander around the countryside aimlessly, picking flowers and fighting goblins, isn't it?

It's going to take some incredible writing to turn that into a good script!

Turning video games into movies, and vice versa, is rarely a success.

Ben Foster played Charlie Prince (brilliantly) in 3:10 to Yuma. that's the only thing i know him from, though. smile

the writer, director, btw, is Duncan Jones, son of David Bowie. his first film was Moon, which was actually brilliant - it was a small budget sci fi film starring Sam Rockwell

You can’t truly call yourself peaceful unless you are capable of violence. If you’re not capable of violence, you’re not peaceful. You’re harmless.

So he is still on it. Thought I'd heard that he jumped ship. Then there's hope. His s-f movies (including Moon) have a very very good reputation so it will be interesting to see what he does with a fantasy setting.
I'm very curious to see where they take it. I'll probably wind up seeing it in theaters, and all I can say is dear god I hope it doesn't go the way of most movies based off video games.
I never played the game, but other than Resident evil, movies based on games don't always do well.
