Thank you all for addressing this issue!
I also think that "sex" should not have to be chosen (even if you are able to hide it) and that sex/gender/etc should be fill in the blank.
It has been great to join this site! but I did so upon personal recommendation and would not have considered joining otherwise simply becasue choosing a sex, either male or female, is required.
