"Come buy, come buy"
Liz heard the call from somewhere near,
such a familiar call to hear;
though she could not say why.
She stood waiting for her date
by the river's running water
till sunset came and caught her
"That fucker's running late,"
she thought and moved to go.
But then she heard again, some distant cry
"Come by our stalls, come buy"
The voice was near, far, above, below.
Again, she thought she knew its sound;
some other Liz it must have been, long dead and gone,
who knew it came from Goblin Land;
who guided her steps to Goblin Mound.
She found herself amidst a crowd
of fairie folk: elf, pixie, sealkie, faun and troll.
All seated patiently before a single empty market stall
"Behold the human girl", a voice boomed loud
and they all cheered to see her there
as if she was an honoured guest,
or some unseen trickster's priceless jest;
She should be alarmed. But all was fair:
Beautiful; noble; debonair.
Then out of tree and wagon peddlers came
who this fantastic market operate:
Goblins; one among them with kingly air.
Liz stepped up and said "Good Masters
of this bizzarre and strange bazaar,
as you can tell, my home is far
so please give me some answers."
The goblin chief then took the stage.
Upon the stall he stood to say:
"Come human girl, without delay
This night comes only once an Age;
when a maid of human blood
finds the way to our stalls
to sell her body and all her holes
for all the treasures of the land!"
