Gratuitous self-serving post:

Do some categories (Wife Lovers, in this case) not qualify for the 'popular stories' scrolling on the Stories page? Yes, I ask because I have a one scoring higher than some that show, but also Issabella has one higher than mine, both in Wife Lovers.

Please take a peek at my stories! Here's a small variety pack:

To Soar With Eagles | Lush Stories An emotional story of love and loss that may touch your heart. Sexy... yes, of course, but uplifting as well! And a Recommended Read!

I Like Big Cocks and I Cannot Lie: Part 1 of 2 | Lush Stories A 2-part story of my bisexual husband and I engaging with a very well-endowed friend!

The Gift That Keeps On Giving | Lush Stories My thoughtful husband gifts me an erotic beach massage session with a large and talented Jamaican masseur... and oh my!

There's only 10 slots and it's a good mix of categories right now with only two from the same category that I could find (and it was Cheating) so I highly doubt they are using category as a determining factor. But it is only 10 so they can't have representation from every category all the time.

How often does it refresh? What is the exact formula? Does it use score, view, some combination? Those are the questions I would be asking before leaping to the conclusion that a particular category was getting slighted.

Nothing new on here, but my entry in the StoriesSpace "Not What It Looks Like" comp is now up.

Thanks. I never thought about one from every category, I know that would be difficult because there are so many! I just thought it went by total score, or points or whatever, and didn't represent any author more than once at a time. I also thought Incest Fantasy might not show because of being controversial, so I wondered about Wife Lovers.

I'm sure there is some sort of formula, I was just curious, and they do seem to rotate out about 30 days after publication date so it changes regularly. Like all authors, always just looking for a little extra visibility! 😉

I wondered about Wife Lovers.

Cheating and Cuckold are both represented right now and I doubt they would include those and not Wife Lovers so I think it's safe. But, yes, it would not surprise me to find IF is excluded though there is a Taboo story there, so who knows? Hope someone with more knowledge can add to my speculation.

The refresh rate, according to Jen, is 30 days, but that's only a max for the top story (ie April601 most of the time) and others that can hold their place. It's quite possible to be on for only a few days, then get bumped off, as more favored folks are published.

How the algorithm works has also been asked before, but no one seemed entirely sure or willing to say.

I honestly pay no real attention to it, as it is less a measure of writing ability and more the talent for garnering likes, which is a different thing altogether in many cases.

Charming as fuck

No, there's nothing excluded from it. I think the popular/scroll ones might update weekly. The top author ones are 30 days, as Kistin says. So it would be based on the number of likes a story had received over the previous week, rather than the total score. I'm not 100% sure though. I was told at the time but my brain is like a sieve these days, lol.
