So, is anyone else playing the game? What have been your favourite classes and companions? Annoyingly, Astarion seems to be compulsory for me as the only one who fills his role. I've already sunk 95 hours onto it, with two different playthroughs on the go. One with my husband, who almost kills himself while he's taking all the good loot, as a Draconic Sorcerer. 😒 Then Tempest Cleric on the other, and I've managed to get through my single-player game much quicker because I'm not running through plans and positioning with another. Haven't quite gotten past Act 1 yet, but I'm a completionist, so I'm trying to satisfactorily finish each minor quest.

I'm pre-ordering it fir PS 5. I heard excellent things and I have a month before Spider-Man cones out. I'm going to give it try. I hear it's like an old school RPG which I miss dearly. Just git done with FF16. Great game, but I miss the old school rpg

I play both DnD and Pathfinder with my friends, so playing the video games isn't overly different for me, but the main criticism I've seen for Baldur's gate is that turn based isn't optional like it is in the Pathfinder one. Personally I like turn based combat, but I understand other players find it slow. What I love about the game is that you are free to make any choice you want, and those choices have repercussions. You can either be good, neutral or evil, and that influences the options available to you. If you take a certain route, a party member may no longer work with you or the quest ends differently. In my two play-throughs I've noticed subtle differences, despite playing a generally good character in both. There's definitely been a lot of effort made to cover each possible outcome.

Oooh, that looks fun!

Only game I've ever played through both versions of is Doom (my first computer game, played on my first computer).

Tintinnabulation - first place (Free Spirit)
Comet Q - second place (Quick and Risqué Sex)
Amnesia - third place (Le Noir Erotique)

I haven't gotten to it yet, but I loved Divinity: Original Sin 1 and 2 from the same developers (Larian Studio) and turn-based CRPGs. Though, I'm a bit apprehensive about it, since my favorite parts of D&D can't be translated to a game like rule of cool, novel uses of spells and other weirdness.

So, so far,bim an elf paladin romancing Shadow heart. I killed just about everyone in the first act. My main crew is myself, Lei Zel, Shadowheart, and the demon looking woman.

Ah, you went the technically evil route. I saved the Tieflings, and also managed to work out the issues with the druids by getting Kagha to realise she was being used by shadow druids and ask to be forgiven.

I'm playing a Seldarine Drow, so I'm finding I can walk into just about anywhere without being questioned much about it, like at the Goblin camp, then I stealthily take out big targets without aggro-ing everyone else.

I mean, I saved the Grove. Goblins were terrorizing the Grove and worshipped the absolute. Lei Zels people were mean, the Dark world people had gnomes as slaves, and the fungus people, the one guy wanted me to assinate the king and so I did, but that wasn't nice so I took him out afterwards. Seems to me that I'm the good guy and everyone else is evil. Just doing what I feel is right and to get more XP.

Lae’zel has been amazing. Her speeches are sexy as hell. She beat my ass and claimed me as her own. Would do again.

Astarion I really like the friendship route. He’s been the best written character in terms of development and feeling like a whole and well thought out character.

Gale was… disappointing. Feels like a bunch of ideas stuck together, relationship pacing is terrible. Space sex made me and my partner laugh our asses off, but I think it was supposed to be erotic so that’s probably not ideal.

Karlach is an adorable fluffy muscle mommy with justifiable anger issues. Just started a play through with romancing her so I’ll hold final judgement on that but seems good so far.

Halsin and the drow paladin I haven’t played around with too much. Halsin is a straight up thirst trap on the surface though. Dang.

Will and Shadowheart annoy me, might eventually try these guys out but I can barely stand them in my party right now. Wyll especially angers me since he’s the only Black character in the game and written so poorly. I really hate how he casually jokes about other characters deep traumas. Shadowheart feels like a skeleton of a story I’ve read 1,000 times and she’s bitchy, but not in the fun way that Astarion is.
